7 Common Myths About Viagra

Myth #2: Viagra is the only option to treat ED

Viagra is one of the more well-known medications to treat erectile dysfunction, however, there are many treatments available to treat the condition. Viagra can be purchased from online pharmacies, such as Pharmica. Sildenafil is the active ingredient in Viagra and Viagra Connect, and is also available in its generic version at a much lower price. Other medications available to treat ED include Cialis, Tadalafil, Levitra, Vardenafil and Spedra.

Myth #3: Viagra will give you an erection lasting for hours

Viagra remains active in the body for up to 4 hours, but this doesn’t mean that an erection will be sustained for this long. Arousal is necessary to enable the medication to work, it will not start immediately once taken and only becomes fully active in the body following at least 30 minutes since the medication was taken.

Myth #4: You can’t take Viagra with other medications

Like all medication, there are interactions when taking Viagra and some other types of medications. If you are currently taking medication other than Viagra, it’s important to consult your GP or pharmacist to prevent harmful interactions between medications.

Myth #5: You need a prescription to purchase Viagra treatments

Viagra does require a prescription. However, Viagra Connect can be purchased over the counter and does not require a prescription. Viagra Connect contains the same active ingredient as Viagra, however, it is only available at the 50mg strength compared to Viagra which is available at both 100mg and 25mg strength options.

Myth #6: Viagra is only taken by old men

This is a huge falsehood. While Viagra is commonly used by old men, erectile dysfunction is not only experienced by older men and Viagra is not solely to be used by older men. Erectile dysfunction can be experienced by young men, and can be due to a range of factors such ranging from the physical to psychological.

Myth #7: Viagra starts working immediately

It is often thought that Viagra starts to work straight away once taken. However, the reality is that Viagra takes between 30 – 60 minutes to become active in the body. At this point, following sexual arousal, Viagra will start to take effect. Therefore, it is recommended to take the medication up to 30 minutes before intercourse.
