GyroGear CEO, Dr. Faii Ong Speaks Out on More Inclusive Health Funding

London, UK: Dr. Faii Ong believes that more inclusive health funding can help patients regain their freedom, dignity, and quality of life.

Dr. Faii Ong believes the healthcare system should consider everyone, including those living with tremors, when discussing mainstream health policies, regulations, programming, and services, training programs, research, and funding streams, according to our vision.

At the federal and state levels, innovation is a major tenet of health care. And the call to action is clear: continued investment in medical innovation will lead to breakthroughs, strengthen our nation’s productive bioscience industry, and help ensure that patients are at the center of these efforts. However, Dr. Faii Ong discusses more inclusive health funding to improve medical research, including hand tremors.

Healthcare decision-makers are constantly under pressure to provide high-quality treatment while working with limited resources. Factors such as an aging population, steep increases in long-term conditions, restricted financing, and rising patient expectations make this even more difficult. As a result, Dr. Faii Ong thinks it highlights the ongoing need for healthcare innovation.

Breakthrough technologies, such as the GyroGlove, and the expanding digitalization of healthcare can assist in supplying this much-needed innovation. It will boost chances to restore patients’ quality of life, improve patient outcomes, and enhance healthcare efficiency while increasing its attractiveness to patients and staff.

Since the mapping of the human genome, medical researchers have achieved new milestones that previously looked far-flung and unachievable. Since then, the rate of medical discovery has accelerated rapidly.

Today’s goal is to maintain this development to benefit patients suffering from cancer, heart disease, diabetes, tremors, and other disorders. Dr. Faii Ong believes those in authority must realize the necessity of funding medical science.

Given all this, Dr. Joon Faii Ong is pleased that GyroGear received a $3.3 million grant from the UK government and the EU’s Horizon 2020 program. He and his team worked on medical devices, regenerative medicine, and stem cell therapy at Harvard Medical School and Harvard-Health MIT’s Science and Technology Division. This understanding has helped Dr. Ong lead his team of precision engineers and healthcare professionals to develop GyroGlove. GyroGlove, a wearable gadget that uses cutting-edge aerospace-grade gyroscopes, aims to help minimize hand tremors in the 200 million worldwide who suffer from physical tremors.

Dr. Faii Ong founded GyroGear Ltd, a neuromuscular medical device firm, in 2016. It is the world’s only medical device company that uses mechanical gyroscopes. Dr. Ong was inspired to act while still a student at Imperial College London after witnessing the pain of a 103-year-old patient with trembling hands at a London hospital. Dr. Ong and his team created the GyroGlove to aid millions of others in similar situations.

GyroGlove has shown positive outcomes. Volunteers can put on the GyroGlove on their own and begin feeding themselves, inserting keys into keyholes, writing again, and for some, threading a needle and sewing again. Dr. Faii Ong believes that more inclusive health funding can help more patients regain their freedom, dignity, and quality of life.

About GyroGear LTD: GyroGear is an interdisciplinary design, engineering, and medical team. The company, led by Dr. Faii Ong, developed the GyroGlove, a wearable gadget that mechanically stabilizes hand tremors. The GyroGear aims to help people with Parkinson’s disease and Essential Tremor regain their independence, dignity, and quality of life.
