Experience Days at Roedean School
Alongside open days, Roedean offers several experience days for students of all ages. This year, the School is hosting a “Rockpools Day” for girls who are interested in joining Year 7 or 9 in 2024. This event will take place on the beach below the School on June 13, 2023.
Roedean is also hosting several Sixth Form experience and taster days.

Roedean School’s Hockey Academy
Roedean has an exceptional record of achievement in a range of sports. The School teaches netball in the spring, cricket in the summer, and hockey in the autumn term.
Roedean’s Hockey Academy will take place on the following dates in 2023:
- May 15 and 22.
- June 5, 12, and 19.
Led by Roedean’s head of hockey, these free sessions run from 5.30 p.m. to 6.30 p.m. The Hockey Academy welcomes hockey players in Years 4 and 5 from schools in Brighton and beyond who are keen to improve their game in a fun and supportive environment.

Record-Breaking GCSE Results
While some independent all-girls schools are finding the educational market challenging, Roedean is thriving. In 2022, the School reported its record-breaking GCSE results: 85.3% of its 1,260 GCSEs were grades 9 to 7 (equivalent to A*-A). Plus, 47.4% of the grades were grade 9s (the highest possible — equivalent to an A**).
The School’s largest-ever year group (more than 130 students) achieved a total of 116 grade 9s, with:
- 40 students each achieving 7 or more grade 9s.
- 19 students each achieving 9 or more grade 9s.
- 11 students each achieving 10 or more grade 9s.
The results prove the dedication of Roedeanians who have had their education disrupted by Covid-19 in recent years.

Roedean School Welcomes New Headteacher: Niamh Green
After serving as Roedean’s headteacher for the last decade, Oliver Blond left the School at the end of the 2023 lent term. Blond received a warm send-off from students and staff.
Roedean’s new headteacher Niamh Green joined the School at the start of the 2023 summer term. Green has worked in all-girls boarding and day schools for more than 20 years. She has experience in various academic and pastoral roles, previously serving as:
- The acting head and deputy head of Mayfield School, Sussex.
- A head of department and head of year at Woldingham School, Surrey.
- A housemistress at Sherborne Girls, Dorset.
- The deputy head (pastoral) at Godolphin School, Salisbury.
Roedean School’s senior team will support Green as she steps into the role of headteacher. The team includes Talia Keller, Roedean’s head of school and designated safeguarding lead.
