The concept of vlogging can seem appealing at first, but once you factor in the time and money commitment, the question of “is this really worth it?” will eventually arise.
Return on investment is an interesting subject to investigate. Why start anything if there are no immediate benefits?
Here are some of the advantages and returns I (and others) have encountered as a result of starting a vlog:
1. A vlog establishes credibility with your audience.
If you’re starting a company, developing a brand, or simply trying to do something on your own, confidence is unquestionably the most important thing you’ll need.
You want to sell more goods, attract more customers or clients, and remain in business (and hopefully grow!) from a business perspective. What makes you think they’ll buy from you if they don’t know who you are or have some trust in your company?
Trust is the pillar of everything you want to achieve. Companies spend thousands, if not millions, of dollars on ads, promotions, and branding in order to raise awareness and familiarity among potential consumers and gain their trust.
We learn who we can trust from the moment we are born.
2. A vlog gives you something to focus on in the future.
It was a tragedy from the standpoint of vlogging. I had nearly all of it recorded: leaving the house, driving to the hospital, settling in, the brief breaks I took to catch up with what was going on, and finally meeting our new daughter.
Rylynn, our firstborn, met Melody for the first time on video. I captured the arrival of family and friends, as well as the tears, laughter, and joy.
When I began to edit the footage together, I found that the SD card had been corrupted. All had been taken away from me.
Dealing with missing video is a story for another day, but in the hospital room with Melody, I took out my iPhone and filmed a quick several-minute film. I finished uploading it and returned to my home.
A vlog is a series of tiny bits of history waiting to be remembered.
This is only one of tens of thousands of memories I can replay and relive at any time. My family and I relocated from California to Ireland in 2016, marking one of the most important life transitions I’ve ever made.
I have videos of final moments with relatives, little subtleties, and memories I may have lost later while I was vlogging. Since then, I’ve gone back to watch the video where we drove to the airport several times.
These are only a few examples of tangible, watchable memories you can capture and hold for the rest of your life.
3. A vlog allows you to be more imaginative.
If you plan to create a vlog on a regular basis (more on that later), you’ll eventually feel like you’ve said what you need to say and see what you need to show.
This is a very normal feeling, and I assure you that you will never run out unless you document and upload every single second of your life or subject matter.
When it comes to vlogging, creativity is needed. Discovering your voice, style, and even the type of content you want to produce necessitates a certain amount of imagination.
Regularly forcing yourself to make something different keeps you on your imaginative toes. It allows you to bring new ideas and challenges to yourself, as well as convey your message to your audience in a fresh new way.
Starting a vlog might be just what your creative muscles have been aching for if you have a desire to learn and develop.
4. A vlog fosters connections.
Meeting up with a couple who were viewers of my vlog and were going to be in Dublin for their honeymoon was one of the strangest (and coolest) moments in recent years.
They contacted me, we met for coffee in the capital, and we had a great time.
This is only one illustration. Since I put myself and my work out there for people to connect with, I’ve had wonderful conversations with people all over the world.
People online begin to form relationships with you when you vlog because they feel like they know you.
It also makes it possible for you to share your life with friends and relatives who live far away. In 2016, I moved to Ireland with my family and brought my vlogging habit with me. My American family appreciates my videos because they make them feel like we’re always in touch. If you are planning to start vlogging, all you need a mobile phone and mount to start your journey.
5. A vlog shows your experience or knowledge.
Finally, one of the most valuable aspects of making a vlog is the chance to share what you’ve learned.
I won’t go into why you should share and teach what you know, particularly as a business or a brand, because there are more articles than I can count.
When you bring your work out into the world and show that you know what you’re talking about, you’ll get noticed (we’ll go over attention in more detail later).
- One of the most important aspects of a vlog is that it can be whatever you want it to be. You don’t have to make it just like anyone else. All you have to do now is make it your own, and people who are interested will flock to you.
