Cannabis: The Health Benefits You Might Not Know About

Cannabis, or marijuana, has been used as a medicine and a recreational drug for hundreds of years. The history of cannabis use dates back to ancient China and Egypt, where it was used to ease the pain of childbirth, improve appetite and reduce inflammation during diseases like rheumatism, epilepsy, and malaria.

From alleviating nausea to improving one’s memory, there’s no doubt that cannabis can do wonders. Here are just a few ways that cannabis can benefit your body and mind!

Relieves Anxiety:

Anxiety is a feeling of unease, worry, or fear. It can be mild or severe. People with anxiety often have physical symptoms, such as a fast heart rate and sweating. Cannabis is a plant that contains chemicals called cannabinoids.

These chemicals can help relieve anxiety. Some people use cannabis to relieve their anxiety. Cannabis can be smoked, eaten, or inhaled. It can also be used in oil form. Medical cannabis is available in the form of gummies, edibles, and tinctures.

Helps Easing Cancer Symptoms:

One of the most well-known effects of cannabis is its ability to reduce nausea and vomiting. This is a huge benefit for cancer patients undergoing chemotherapy, as many traditional medications cannot effectively manage these symptoms.

Cannabinoids have also been shown to be effective in reducing pain and inflammation, two other common side effects of cancer treatment. In addition, cannabinoids can help improve appetite and sleep quality, which are often disturbed in cancer patients.

Helps Reducing Joint Pain:

Cannabinoids are the active ingredients in cannabis, and they have been shown to provide relief for various types of pain. One study found that cannabinoids were effective at reducing joint pain in rats.

Additionally, a human clinical trial found that a cannabinoid-based medication was effective at reducing pain and improving function in people with arthritis. Cannabinoids have also been shown to help with nerve pain, inflammation, and muscle spasms.

However, before starting the treatment for arthritis pain, it is best recommended to consult a healthcare advocate who can guide you through the right diagnosis and treatment.

Reduces Antibiotic Resistance:

Medical cannabis has been shown to be effective in reducing antibiotic resistance. In a study published in science direct, researchers found that medical cannabis can help reduce the spread of antibiotic-resistant bacteria.

The study’s authors suggest that medical cannabis could be used as an alternative to traditional antibiotics.

Helps Against Epilepsy:

Cannabis has been shown to be effective in reducing seizures in people with epilepsy. Cannabis-based medicine Epidiolex is used as a certified medicine to help against several types of epilepsy. This medicine was made legal after the Farm Bill 2018, under the legalization of marijuana and its related products.

Reports based on users’ experiences have suggested that cannabis may help reduce seizure frequency, but until recently, there hasn’t been much scientific evidence to support these claims.

However, a new study published in The New England Journal of Medicine provides the strongest evidence that cannabis can help reduce seizure frequency in people with epilepsy.

However, before buying any cannabis product, make sure to choose an authenticated retailer and genuine products to avoid any harmful side effects.
