Forgot WiFi Extender Password? Use the Recovery Feature!

Note: This process will only work for users who have enabled the Password Recovery feature on their Netgear WiFi range extender. Thus, make sure that you enable the required feature in order to recover the forgotten password of your extender.

Mentioned below are the guidelines that you need to follow in order to recover the password of your Netgear extender by using the recovery feature:

Hardware Configuration

Start by setting up the hardware of your Netgear WiFi range extender. Grab a cable and plug the extender into the wall socket. Then, press the Power button on your WiFi device and ensure that the LED light has turned green.

As soon as the LED light turns green, grab an Ethernet cable and connect your Netgear WiFi range extender to the WiFi router. You can also connect your WiFi devices wirelessly.

Launch an Internet Browser

Once a strong connection has been established between your WiFi devices, launch a web browser on your PC. You are free to use any web browser that you like. Whether you’re using Google Chrome, Apple Safari, Mozilla Firefox, or Microsoft Edge, just make sure that it is updated.

Then, type mywifiext.net in the address bar of your web browser to access the Netgear WiFi extender login page. Press the Enter key to proceed further. Once the Netgear extender login window appears, fill in the default username and password of your device in the given fields.

Note: If you’re unsure about the default login credentials of your Netgear WiFi range extender, then it is recommended that you take reference from the Netgear manual.

Answer the Security Questions

After entering the default admin details, click on the Log In button. You will be asked to answer a few security questions. The answers should match the answers you filled in while performing mywifiext setup.

Once you are done answering the security questions, click on the Continue button. As soon as you hit Continue, you’ll find the admin password of your Netgear WiFi range extender.

Note: If you are trying to recover the password of your WiFi device using an Android, then it is recommended that you access mywifiext local instead of mywifiext net.

Just in case, if the recovery feature didn’t help you in fixing the ‘forgot WiFi extender password’ issue, it is recommended that you reset your device.
